The challenge
During the design process of a product, it is vital to avoid errors and ensure predictability. MBE uses special software and calculations early on in the design process to determine whether a product can be made properly, functions properly and will have a long life. Many SMEs don't have enough expertise or the right tools to do this.
This is what we do
We want to make Model Based Engineering accessible for SMEs. That is why we teach students how to work with advanced software, such as Siemens NX. Our goal is to emphasise the practical applicability and bridge the gap between academic knowledge and the real world.
Where we stand now
Besides integrating into the existing education curriculum, Greenwise Campus has also started a learning community. This community is comprised of SMEs, larger companies and knowledge institutions. The goal is to share knowledge when it comes to Model Based Engineering by way of Masterclasses and workshops.
What’s next?
The next step it to bundle all the knowledge of Model Based Engineering in the Northern Netherlands at the new knowledge centre called MSE. Companies can go there for online access to advanced software, additional training, advice, or to participate in one of the development projects in collaboration with the schools and researchers.
